Hannah Jane Geissinger Dean was born March 18, 1858 in Union Township, Huntingdon Co., Pa. She was one of at least 9 children born to Charles S and Margaret (Vandevander) Geissinger.
Hannah married Aden Benedict Dean at the National House on November 30th 1865; the ceremony was performed by the Rev. S. H. Reid. Hannah and Aden were married over 50 years. They were the parents of 8 children: Annie Mary, Miles Grant, Charles T., John B, Vada M., Carey "Charlie", Gardie E., and Watson who died young.
Hannah died June 8, 1923 at the home of her daughter Annie Mary Dean Shoemaker. She was 84 years old. Her funeral funeral services were held at Hawn's bridge church, at 2 o'clock on a Sunday afternoon with Rev Bagshaw officiating.
Her obituary in the Huntingdon Daily News, June 14, 1923 reads as follows: "JUNIATA TOWNSHIP Quite a number of people attended the funeral of Mrs Hannah Dean last Sunday afternoon. Mrs Dean was a resident of Juniata township for many years, but died at the home of her daughter, Mrs Shoemaker, of Pine Grove Mills, Centre County. She was laid to rest in a grave beside her husband, Aden Dean, in the Aucker cemetery at Hawn's Bridge."
Hannah and Aden were buried originally at Acker Cemetery. Their graves were moved by the US government to White Church Cemetery (Jacob's Church Cemetery) in Penn Twp, Huntingdon Co., Pa in 1971 due to expansion to Raystown Lake area
