Thomas Hazard, the grandfather of Hannah, wife of Rev. Samuel Sackett, came to Boston in 1635. He had two wives, both named Martha. In 1652 he became one of the first magistrates of Newtown, Long Island.
Jonathan Hazard, his son, married Hannah Laurenson, daughter of James, and resided at Newtown. He served under various Governors of the Province, thirteen years as a Magistrate, four years as Supervisor, one year as Assessor. He died in 1711.
Nathaniel Hazard, son of Jonathan and Hannah (Laurenson) Hazard; married Deborah Alsop Simpkins, daughter of Richard Alsop and wife of Capt. John Simpkins, and they were the parents of the wife of Rev. Samuel Sackett.
