About Hannah Witter
Do not confuse with Anna (Churchman) Rogers.
from William Witter/Hannah Churchman
Hannah Churchman was born abt 1616 to Hugh Churchman of Lynn, Massachusetts.[2] Some documents say she was of Broomehall, Sussex, England. Hannah probably came over to America with her father. Hugh Churchman living at Lynn, Massachusetts in its history it says that Hugh came in 1640. But he probably came a year or two earlier since William and Hannah were married in 1639. Hugh Churchman left all of his belongings to the children of Hannah and William in his will 1644.
William Witter and Hannah Churchman were married 16 Apr 1639 in Lynn, Essex, Co, Massachusetts. Their children were Josiah born in 1639 who married Elizabeth Wheeler, and Hannah born abt 1641 who married Robert Burdick.
William was living in Massachusetts as early as 1639, at which date he was probably of Swampscott, two miles out of Lynn. At a later period he was a resident of Swampscott, although he is mentioned in some of the records as still of Lynn.
William Witter’s will was dated August 6, 1657. In it he bequeathed to his wife, Annis, half of his estate, and to his son, Josiah, the other half. Of his daughter, he says: “Hannah shall have a yew and lamb this time twelf mounth.” He died two years after making his will, in 1659.
Hannah Churchman Witter went with her son Josiah to Stonington, Connecticut and lived to a great age.[3] She drowned in a small Brook having only her face in it.
