About Hans Hansen Grovdahl
Hans was a sailor, achieving the rank of Skipper.
Hans & Anna immigrated to the United States in June 7, 1887, locating in Ossian. They left Bremen, Germany and landed at Baltimore, Maryland - trip took an extra month. They got off at Castalia, Iowa through- an-error and walked all the way to Ossian, Iowa with all their luggage and a child. Several years later they moved to Nordness, residing there about 12 years. They returned to-Ossian- in 1906:
Hans was a section foreman for Burlington/Cedar Rapids Railroad Company and later Rock Island Railway. He worked for the company 40 years, 35 years as foreman.
