About Lawrence Martin Grovdahl
Lawrence was educated in the Ossian and Nordness schools and spent several years in Seattle, Washington, before returning to Ossian.
He was employed as a lineman on the-Milwaukee-Railroad for a time before serving into: E-418 telegraph battalion, signal corps, overseas in World War I, with the rank of sergeant. He also worked on the Rock Island railroad before going into the grocery business with his brother at Ossian for 15 years. He then worked in a creamery at Ludlow, near Waukon, Iowa for 15 years with his brother, as assistant butter maker, before retiring to Ossian.
Rev. Donald E. Severson presided at Lawrence's funeral.
