Harald Olsen Bergan

When limited character sets are available, "o with a slash through it" is frequently replaced with the two letter combination "oe"; and, "a with a ring over it" is frequently replaced with the two letter combination of "aa".

Harald Olsson Klinestad was born in1697 and died on April 27, 1768. He owned Klinestad from 1724 - 1765, as well as a part of Bergan. On August 8, 1721, he married Live Ingebretsdatter (born in 1703; died on January 23, 17650, the daughter of Ingebret Paalsson (spelled P- a with a ring, or small o above it - l-s-s-o-n) and Randi Larsdatter from Northern Skalberg, Tjolling (spelled T-j- o with a / through it -l-l-i-n-g), or Tjoelling. Live's father belonged to the Aasrum familly in Hedrum. He was Paal Aslakssoen Hotvedt;s son, who was married to a daughter of Sheriff Soeren Rasmusson Svines (son of Sheriff Rasmus Nilssoen Bjoernum), who died in 1683. Live belonged to that branch of the Aasum (Aasrum, Aastrum) familly which descends from Paal Aslaksson Aastrum, a large landowner and tenant of Aasrum in 1593.
