Ole Kristoffersen Bergan

(Excerpt from THE FAMILY OLSEN BOGEN From Stokke, by Anna Marie Aaroe ( born 12-18-1870), granddaughter of Per Olsen Bogen; daughter of Anne Marie Olsen Bogen (8-09-1842-1-30-1911) and Soren Aaroe (9-27-1823 - 2-06-1893) In the Norwegian language "a with a ring over it" and "o with a slash through it" are separate letters at the end of the alphabet. When limited character sets are available, "o with a slash through it" is frequently replaced with the two letter combination "oe", and "a with a ring over it" is frequently replaced with the two letter combination of "aa".

Ole Christofferssoen Bergan was born in 1664 and died on March 27, 1739. He owned half of Bergan from 1695-1739, Eastern Tue from 1703 - 1739, and Ormestad from 1713 -1720. He was married to Ingeborg Aakesdatter, the daughter of Aakes Steinsholt and Kari Olesdatter. Ole Christofferssoen Bergan had seven children, Harald being the second child. In "Sandeherred", page 549, Lorens Berg writes about Ole Christofferssoen Bergan: "He was well off and the inheritance totaled 273 daler."
