Chief John "Young Tassel" Watts was elected Chief of the Chickamauga Cherokee after the death of Dragging Canoe on March 1, 1792. As with most other early Cherokee men, his wife or wives are unknown.

He may have been married to a woman named Wurtagua, b 1760.

He may have been the father of men called Big Rattlinggourd and Hard Mush.

Hard Mush was Cherokee.

Almost nothing is known of this Cherokee man known as "Hard Mush" or "Gatunuali" who is believed to be the son of Chief John Watts. He lived at the end of the 18th century. [1]
