About Harold Douglas Floyd

Harold was a farmer, reader, artist, engineer, opera lover, and inventor. He understood how things worked. This may have been due to his long bout with rheumatic fever as a child and how it helped develop his ability to concentrate and take things apart with his hands and/or his mind. He could wire a house, plow a field, and talk about his love for Bizet. The Metropolitan Opera was on the radio and it played in South Carolina.

Harold loved his family and the smell of freshly turned earth. He was a veteran of World War II. He believed as Bishop Mandell Creighton said "The one real object of education is to have a man (or woman) in the condition of continually asking questions."
