Hayden M. Clifford, 49, S. Main Street, Spencer, died suddenly Monday afternoon.
Born in Chatham, he lived his entire life in the Chatham and Spencer areas. For the last 23 years he lived in Spencer village.
Mr. Clifford was employed with the Mining Machine Parts Co. in Medina. He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Spencer and the Chatham VFW.
He served in World War II as a pilot and completed 18 missions over Germany before being shot down. He was held as a prisoner for six months and awarded the purple heart.
Surviving him are his widow, Jean; five daughters, Mrs. Gloria Nichols of Spencer, Darlene, Beverly, Bette Jo and Cheryl, all at home; one son, Tom of Muskingum College; one grandson; his father, Carl of Litchfield; two sisters, Mrs. Evelyn Springer of Amherst and Mrs. Lilian Damon of Medina, and one brother, Edward, of Ashland.
He was preceded in death by his mother and a brother.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday in the Parker Funeral Home in Spencer with the Rev. Clyde Willis of Spencer officiating. Burial will be in Chatham Cemetery. Calling hours are Wednesday afternoon and evening.
