Heimann Ezekiel (Cheskel) Lazar

Heimann Ezekiel Lazar was born in Prossnitz on 7 December 1787, the fourth child of Jacob and Rosel Lazar. His age and name vary throughout records. His 1787 birth record lists his as "Ezechiel", but his 1810 marriage record calls him "Heimann". His age in that record is listed as 20.

In the birth records of all of his children, he is called "Heimann Lazar" [or "Heumann Lazar"], Yet, on 5 Jan 1834, when he witnessed the marriage of his younger brother, Lazar Lazar [listed as "Lazar Lazarus"] to Hani Brodetzky, he is listed as "Cheskel Lazarus".

When the Jewish census of 1857 was taken, he is called "Heiman Lazer", b. 1783, a resident of household #32, but when he died there on 22 September 1869, he is listed as "Cheskl Latzer", age 93. His age at death was dramatically overstated -- he was actually three months short of 82 at the time.

Although he was a younger son of a younger son, he was able to attain familianten status in Prostejov. In 1848, he was "Heimann Lazarus" with familianten number 48.
