" Johan Henrich b. abt 1740 and m. Anna Maria dau.  Henrich Walter (See entry) and widow of Peter Ness (see entry) about 1768. He married Christina after 1789. His will was written in Shrewsbury Township on Aug. 14, 1816 and probated on Sept 23, 1816. They had the following children recorded FRI)..."

"Henry Alt, son of Valentin and Maria Katharina Alt was born October 31, 1745 [YOrk co. Pa. Will Book C pg. 426] at the age of ten he was apprenticed to a weaver, as the following orphans court record shows: March 26, 1756 Came into court Maria Katharina Alt widow and administratrix of Valentine Alt late of York township weaver dead and prayed that Henry Alt a minor orphan son of the said Valentine aged ten years the thirty first day of October last, may be bound an apprentice to Abraham Keepher of Codorus township weaver. It is considered by the court and the said Henry Alt is hereby bound an apprentice to the said Abraham Keepher until he shall be of the age of twenty one years in consideration whereof the said Abraham Keepher (by Casper Keepher his father) doth covenant and agree to teach the said apprentice to read and write and the art of mystery of a weaver which he now practiseth and to furnish and allow the said apprentice sufficient meat drink apparel washing and lodging during the said term and at the expiration thereof to pay unto him three pounds current money of this province of two suits of apparell one whereof shall be new..." The orginal tax lists for York county show Henry resident in Shrewsbury township in 1774, York township 1779 through 1789, then Shrewsbury 1800 and on to the end of his life. Since the York county assessment rolls for 1783 also carry a census of inhabitants, the itemized statement from the orginal lists concerning Henry Alt is given her, York township: Henry Alt 6 males, 1 females, 210A Land, 3 horses, 3 cows, 3 sheep, 3 houses, 1 outhouses.  Henry Alt died September 14, 1816 [The Gazette (York co. Pa. Thursday September 19, 1816].  

He signed his will on August 24, 1816 and it was admitted to probate on September 23, 1816 [York county Pa. Wills Book N pg. 339-42]

Henry Alt's first wife was Anna Maria, daughter of Henry Walter (Walder) and widow of Peter Neas. Anna Maria's mother was Dorothea Lauffer, daughter of Hans Jacob Lauffer. The Walders and Hans Jacob Lauffer came from Canton Zurich, Switzerland [list of Swiss Emigrants in the Eighteenth century to the American Colonies by A. B. Faust Vol. 1 pg. 52], on the ship Francis and Elizabeth, Henry qualifing at Philadelphia on August 30, 1743 [Pennsylvania German Pioneers by R. B. Strassburger and William J. Hinke Vol. 1 pg. 330. Anna Maria had a brother Solomon, and three sisters, Elizabeth (Mrs. Valentine Wilt), Barbara (Mrs. John Smith) and Dorothea (Mrs. Jacob Shafer) all of York county [York county Pa. Wills Bk. E pg. 159] Anna Maria was baptized August 3, 1747 by the Rev. Jacob Lischy, the sponsors being Casper Klabfleder and Maria [Baptismal Records of the Rev. Jacob Lischy Collections of the Historical Society of York county, pg. 9]. She married Peter, son of Matthias Neas (Nehs, Nohs) of Manchester township, York county, but was a widow with a baby son, Peter, by June 30., 1767, when her father-in-law made his will [York County Pa. Orphans Court records Book C pg. 235; York County Pa. Wills Book B pg. 131-2]. Her son Peter Nace, married Elizabeth Glattfelder [York co Pa. Wills Book M pg. 490-4], daughter of Felix and his wife Elizabeth [York county Pa. deeds Book 2P pg. 555-9], who was a daughter of Daniel and Elizabeth Renoll of York county.. Anna Maria Alt died December 10, 1794 [tombstone inscriptions], and was buried in Bupp's Union Church Cemetery, Springfield township.

Henry Alt's second wife was Christina, widow of Ephraim Graybill, as indicated in an orphans court item dated December 1803 [York County Pa. Orphans court Book H pg. 431]. The note is as follows: On the application of Christina Alt, late Christina Graybill the court appoints Dieterich Brubaker guardian over the persons and estate of David Graybill, aged seven years and upwards, and Ephraim Graybill, aged three years and upwards both orphan minor children of Ephram Graybill, deceased.

According to Henry's will [York co. Wills Bk. N pg. 339-42] he and Christina had four children: Ludwig, Henry, Christina, and Elizabeth. A

fter Henry's death Christina married again according to three deeds on record in York county, Pennsylvania. One [York County Pa. Deed Book 3 N pg. 230] dated February 14, 1835 states I Aphrim Grabill on of the sons and heirs of Bristena Bap of Codorus township in the county of York, Pennsylvania deceased have granted ....unto the said Frederick Bollinger...the estate share and interest claim of the said Ephraim Grabill of in to or out of the Real or Personal or mixed estate of Christina Bop late of the Township... Another deed [York county Pa. deeds Book 3N pg. 337] dated March 17, 1835 is a receipt given by Ephraim Graybill to Michael Sower, administrator of the estate of Christina Bop, for the former's full share of his mother's estate. Still another [York county Pa. Deeds Book 3N pg. 65] dated March 17, 1834 names her Christina Bob widow of Lewis Bop, deceased."

Henry Alt's first wife was Anna Maria, daughter of Henry Walter (Walder) and widow of Peter Neas. Anna Maria's mother was Dorothea Lauffer, daughter of Hans Jacob Lauffer. The Walders and Hans Jacob Lauffer came from Canton Zurich, Switzerland [list of Swiss Emigrants in the Eighteenth century to the American Colonies by A. B. Faust Vol. 1 pg. 52], on the ship Francis and Elizabeth, Henry qualifing at Philadelphia on August 30, 1743 [Pennsylvania German Pioneers by R. B. Strassburger and William J. Hinke Vol. 1 pg. 330. Anna Maria had a brother Solomon, and three sisters, Elizabeth (Mrs. Valentine Wilt), Barbara (Mrs. John Smith) and Dorothea (Mrs. Jacob Shafer) all of York county [York county Pa. Wills Bk. E pg. 159] Anna Maria was baptized August 3, 1747 by the Rev. Jacob Lischy, the sponsors being Casper Klabfleder and Maria [Baptismal Records of the Rev. Jacob Lischy Collections of the Historical Society of York county, pg. 9]. She married Peter, son of Matthias Neas (Nehs, Nohs) of Manchester township, York county, but was a widow with a baby son, Peter, by June 30., 1767, when her father-in-law made his will [York County Pa. Orphans Court records Book C pg. 235; York County Pa. Wills Book B pg. 131-2]. Her son Peter Nace, married Elizabeth Glattfelder [York co Pa. Wills Book M pg. 490-4], daughter of Felix and his wife Elizabeth [York county Pa. deeds Book 2P pg. 555-9], who was a daughter of Daniel and Elizabeth Renoll of York county.. Anna Maria Alt died December 10, 1794 [tombstone inscriptions], and was buried in Bupp's Union Church Cemetery, Springfield township. Henry Alt's second wife was Christina, widow of Ephraim Graybill, as indicated in an orphans court item dated December 1803 [York County Pa. Orphans court Book H pg. 431]. The note is as follows: On the application of Christina Alt, late Christina Graybill the court appoints Dieterich Brubaker guardian over the persons and estate of David Graybill, aged seven years and upwards, and Ephraim Graybill, aged three years and upwards both orphan minor children of Ephram Graybill, deceased. According to Henry's will [York co. Wills Bk. N pg. 339-42] he and Christina had four children: Ludwig, Henry, Christina, and Elizabeth. After Henry's death Christina married again according to three deeds on record in York county, Pennsylvania. One [York County Pa. Deed Book 3 N pg. 230] dated February 14, 1835 states I Aphrim Grabill on of the sons and heirs of Bristena Bap of Codorus township in the county of York, Pennsylvania deceased have granted ....unto the said Frederick Bollinger...the estate share and interest claim of the said Ephraim Grabill of in to or out of the Real or Personal or mixed estate of Christina Bop late of the Township... Another deed [York county Pa. deeds Book 3N pg. 337] dated March 17, 1835 is a receipt given by Ephraim Graybill to Michael Sower, administrator of the estate of Christina Bop, for the former's full share of his mother's estate. Still another [York county Pa. Deeds Book 3N pg. 65] dated March 17, 1834 names her Christina Bob widow of Lewis Bop, deceased."
