Heinz Brenner (1940 - 2011)

Brief overview:

Heinz (71), was brutally beaten at his home in 6th Street, Linden, Johannesburg, on 9th February 2011. His daughter and wife found him laying in a pool of blood in the garage. He was hospitalised and on life-support machines, and died on 21st February 2011.

His daughter, Julie Brenner, said the family was distraught by the brutal nature of her father’s death. They had hoped to see the perpetrator brought to book. She said her father was attacked around 3pm after she and her mother had left to run errands. When they returned an hour later the front door was locked from inside. Moments later an unknown man wearing white gloves which were drenched in blood, opened the door shouting ‘something is wrong in the house.'

The perpetrator demanded their valuables, then locked them both in a cupboard and fled.

Carol described her father as a kind-hearted and helpful person. "He was a quiet person. His life reflected good, Christian values."
Brenner was born in 1940 in Munich, Germany. According to Julie, he visited South Africa in 1968, fell in love with the country and decided to stay here. He married Rose in 1972 and they would have celebrated their 39th wedding anniversary this year. Brenner retired ten years ago as a technician at the University of the Witwatersrand.
