Helen Lillian Atwood, 83 of Rushville, died Saturday, August 2, 2014 at Snyder's Vaughn Haven in Rushville.

She was born September 28, 1930 in Winchester, the daughter of George and Martha Johnson Chestnutt. She married Dewey Friday and he preceded her in death in 1951. She later married Vinus Atwood and he preceded her in death in 1957.

Surviving is her children Donald Friday of Beardstown and Helen (husband Clifford) Carroll and Alberta (husband George) Cook both of Rushville; five grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and three brothers Dewey and Bill Chestnutt both of Rushville and Ronnie Chestnutt of Nebo; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, and three brothers Martin, Frankie, and Howard Chestnutt.

Helen attended Rushville Assembly of God. She enjoyed flowers, dancing, and cooking. Her greatest joy was being with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Tuesday, August 5, 2014 at Sager Funeral Home in Beardstown. Burial will be in the Beardstown City Cemetery. The family will meet with friends one hour prior to the services at the funeral home.

Memorials have been suggested to Snyder's Vaughn Haven.

Helen Lillian Atwood, 83, of Rushville died Saturday, August 2, 2014, at Snyder's Vaughn Haven in Rushville. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, August 5, 2014, at Sager Funeral Home in Beardstown with burial at Beardstown City Cemetery. The family will meet with friends one hour prior to the services at the funeral home.
