About Henderick Jansen Van Den Bosch

Hendrick was the only son of Jan Wouters to use the name Van den Bosch. Born in Flatbush, New York. Oath of Allegiance in Ulster County in 1689.

He eventually grew into manhood and made his home in Marbletown, Ulster County, New York. "Hendrick Boss desires 50 acres of land adjoining the land already granted to. Granted, October 16, 1704". Listed as freeholder in Marbletown in 1703, 1709, 1711-12, 1714-15. (Marbletown Records)

Hendrick Jansen van den Bos is the only known child to settle in Ulster County and used the surname of Van den Bosch, Bos, Bush. Ten siblings settled elsewhere and used surname of Woutersen as per the Holland Society of New York 1914, page 63. Hendrick was baptized in Bergen, New Jersey with a baptismal sponsor of Margariet de Reimer. (This is registered in the New Amsterdam Dutch Reformed Church, Bergen records start in 1666)

Hendrick appears in the earlier Kingston, New York records as Hendrick Jansen Van Den Bosch. He took the Oath of Allegiance in Ulster County in 1689.

Hendrick married c 1693 to Marie Dubois of Leyden. Marie Dubois was the daughter of Jacques duBois and Pieronne Bentyn. After her death, it is believed that Hendrick remarried Arriante Keyser.

From the first volume of Marbletown records (p. 185) the following was recorded, "Hendrick Boss desires 50 acres of land adjoining the land already granted to. Granted, October 16, 1704". He was a freeholder in Marbletown in 1703, 1709, 1711-12, 1714-15. Reference: William Heidgerd-Elting Memorial Library, New Paltz, New York "Dutch Post Star, 1973 - Kingston".
