3. Joined the Dutch East India Company on 3 July 1786 as cadet on the Marie.
4. Sailed on the Canton on 6 October of that year.
5. During his absence his only sibling Petronella died in January 188 aged 18. Buried Rotterdam.
6. Returned in July 1888
7. Again joined the D E I Company on 15 August 1789 and sailed for Cape Horn on 18 January 1790 aboard the Nieuwstad. Rank “Sous-luytenant”
8. Arrived at the Cape 30 April 1790.
