About Henk de Villiers
Henk de Villiers (1941 - 2014)
Brief overview:
Henk (73), and his wife Rina (70), were attacked on their smallholding near the R114, between Mnandi and Knoppieslaagte, outside Centurion, on 9th February 2014. Henk was shot three times in the chest, of which one bullet went straight through his heart.
According to police spokesperson Kaptain Bonginkosi Msimango, the five armed suspects climbed through a study window around 00:30 on Sunday morning, thereby gaining access to the home.
Rina woke up around 01h20 after hearing gunshots in the house. She walked into the corridor, saw Henk dead on the floor, and was accosted by one of the perpetrators. They dragged her around the house, and ransacked every room. She was then pulled through the broken window by which the five attackers had entered the house. Rina lay on the pavement and pretended to be unconscious.
Once the attackers had fled, Rina climbed back into the house and alerted the neighbourhood watch, who in turn contacted the police.
