Henrietta Lees, Free "Champion" 1840

Henrietta Travers - Born 1837 - Died 29th January 1877 aged 40 years

Henrietta was born in England. Her father was a schoolteacher, firstly at Windsor and then at Emu Planes.

Henrietta met Cornelius Lees in Castlereagh and they married on 21st June 1852. Henrietta was 15 years old when they married and had a total of 14 children. Four before before she turned 21 years of age.

Cornelius died at Springwood on 8th March 1886 and he and Henrietta are buried at the Wesley Churchyard at Castlereigh.

Henrietta emigrated with her parents, Henry and Rachel Travis on the "Champion" on 5 October 1840 aged 8 with her brother Herbert, aged 5 and sister Eleanor aged 1yr 6mths. Her mother died 2 years later in 1842. Her father married 2 years later to Martha Wright.
