Cemetery photos thanks to Stefan BÜCHINGER:

German inscription on tombstone reads:

Henriette HIRSCHLER:

“GLÜCKLICH MACHEN WAR IHR STREBEN. WOHLTUN WAR IHR LEBEN.”

(“To make happy she did strive. To do good she did live.”)

Portrait shows a photo from family files of an original oil once owned by the HIRSCHLERS - whereabouts now unknown.

Significant information in an obituary for him, viewable courtesy of:

In which it is said that Herr Bernhard OPPENHEIMER died on the 20th. of the month in his ninetyeight year. That he was descended from a highly regarded and scholarly family "of Israel"who already in his early youth became interested in Talmudic studies, exchanged correspondence and views with many noted specialists in this field and produced written works on the subject.

etc. etc. ...

It ends with this:

Rough translation:

"Good-looking, independent, devout, honoured and esteemed from near and far, this learned, jovial and worldly wise elderly gentleman followed his ninety-eight years of life's path observing the happiness of his children and rocking his grandchildren on his lap. And on the first morning of Sukkot he passed on into the better life, to tarry in the eternal abode of the blessed, as ordered by the Lord for his faithful. And that only half an hour after he had given a blessing with a patriarchal stentorious voice to his favourite daughter, Frau Henriette HIRSCHLER - she whose praiseworthily rare virtues included both beauty and honesty. Peace be on his ashes!"

And N.B. that newspaper article about his funeral speaks of numerous children - who later lived and/or worked in Vienna and Budapest - i.e. Henriette must have had several siblings not yet traced ...

A few further details thanks to Jerusalem cousin Avraham who is kindly sharing biographical snippets with me that are contained in Bernhard OPPENHEIMER's 1829 book "Mei Be-er".

It appears that "Hindela" was the first child/eldest daughter of Bernhard OPPENHEIMER's first wife who died at an early age (in childbirth perhaps?). After the death of her mother, Henriette "assumed the burden of raising the other children and running the household." Her father describes her as being "the praiseworthy, blessed by G-d and by man, the crown of righteousness upon her head". (This correlates perfectly with the description of her in Bernard OPPENHEIMER's 1850 press obituary.)
