He married Anne Pierce, daughter of William Pierce. He died on 7 October 1766 at age 48 at Ickleford, Hertfordshire, England. He was buried on 16 October 1766 at Greenwich, London, England. His will was probated on 6 December 1766.
- He gained the rank of Captain in the service of the Royal Navy.
- He succeeded to the title of 3rd Lord Aylmer, Baron of Balrath, co. Meath [I., 1718] on 26 June 1754.
