There is quite a bit of confusion between Henry and his son Henry. Some believe that it was Henry (the son) who died at Valley Forge, and that Henry (the father) probably died before 1760, when his wife, Mary Scott, remarried to John Ganoway. There is also conflict among his birth date, about 1706 and between 1722-1726. According to Mark Byron in 'The Byron Chronicles' he lived on land deeded to him by his father that was witnessed by his uncle in 1724 (thus abt 1706 would be correct). Also it would seem highly unlikely that he was the one to have served and died at Valley Forge (he would have been abt 72 years of age, even if he was born in 1726 he would have been about 52, still a little old for service) Henry the son is reported to have survived and was granted land in Wilkes Co., NC in 1779. To make matters more confusing, John Byrom (brother to Henry, the father) also had a son, Henry that according to Mark Byron, died at Valley Forge, I believe he is probably the one who died on 5 FEB 1778. (DRK 6 JAN 2005)

He lived in King and Queen County, Virginia. Served in the Continental Army during the Revolutionary War. He became the ancestor of the Byroms of Gordon County and Byromville, Georgia. (HHB-Byrom Manuscript)

"Henry Byrom, born c1706, son of James and Elizabeth of Essex County, Va. married Mary___ and lived in King and Queen County on land deeded to him by his father. The deed was witnessed by his Uncle William in 1724..."

Donnie says that Henry died 1778 at Valley Forge, but I am curious whether it makes more since that Henry, JR., Mary's SON, died Feb 1778 per roster records; and that Henry SR died prior to Mary's remarriage in 1760. It's either that or they got divorced, I think...

Henry was 7th VA; Robert Lorton was 4th VA per Valley Forge roster records
