About Henry Bayley
From "Horsemen of the first frontier (1788-1900)...Page 205:
"In 1829, Henry Bayley went on a trip to England, primarily to settle his younger brother, Nicholas Paget Bayly, into school. At the same time he took the opportunity to visit English studs and came back to New South Wales a true believer in the merits of the British Thoroughbred. On the first day at the Spring meeting of the Australian Racing and Jockey Club held on October 6th and 8th in 1830, Bayley's 3 year old "Tomboy" (1827) won the Maiden Plate and his 4 year old "Chase" (1826) by Bay Camerton (GB_ won the Turf Club Sweepstakes. On the second day, Bayley's "Boshey" won the Ladies Purse and a son of "Australian" won a race for untried horses. The next month, on 18th November 1830, Henry Bayley married Hannah Anne nee Lawson, daughter of the famous explorer and bloodhorse breeder William Lawson of Veteran Hall."
