Death of Mr Henry Walter Fleay.

We regret it is our sad duty to record the death of Mr Henry Walter Fleay, one of the oldest settlers of the Arthur River District, having been resident there for the last 26 years. Mr Fleay was born at Oakover, Beverley, and was the son of John Fleay, of Wiltshire, England, and for many years lived at the well-known estate of Bocalarup on the Arthur, of which he was then the owner. The estate was let to his sons, and eventually sold to Mr Finey, and is now rented by Mr Kimmorley. Mr H. W. Fleay has been in failing health for the last ten years, and came into Wagin a few weeks, ago for treatment, which how ever, proved of no avail, and he passed away about 11 a.m. on Saturday last. Mr Fleay had 14 children, and many relatives in the Arthur River and surrounding districts, and it was decided to inter his remains in the Church of England cemetery at Arthur River. The funeral was arranged for 11 a.m. on Sunday, but owing to unforseen circumstances some of the chief mourners, who lived long distances away, being unable to arrive in time to attend, it was delayed. Eventually the procession slowiy moved away from the Arthur River Agricultural Hall at 3.45 p.m. Among those present were the sons of the deceased Mr and Mrs Farmer, Mr and Mrs Batt, Mr William Fleay and family, Mr and Mrs Edmund Quartermaine, Mr Arthur Quartermaine, Mr E. Smith and family, Mr Blechyden and Mr Simms.
