Henry Frazier

Henry Frazer was born in Guilford County, North Carolina, on August 19, 1793, the son of Isaac Frazer and Rebecca Safrite.

Isaac was the son of Thomas (a native of Scotland) and Mary (a native of Wales) Frazier. Rebecca was the daughter of Henry and Nancy Safrite. Isaac, his son Henry, and most of their descendants chose to spell their last name without the "i", thus Frazer, rather than Frazier.

On January 13, 1816, in Guilford County, North Carolina, Henry married Mary "Polly" Otwell, who was born December 12, 1798, in Guilford County, North Carolina. She was the daughter of James Otwell and Eleanor Reynolds.

In 1828 Henry and Polly and their six oldest children (and Henry's father Isaac) moved from Center Monthly Meeting, North Carolina (south of Greensboro), to Cherry Grove Monthly Meeting, Randolph County, Indiana. In 1838 they all moved to Westfield Monthly Meeting, Hamilton County, Indiana; and then in 1844 to Sugar Plain Monthly Meeting near Thorntown, Boone County, Indiana. Isaac died in Boone County, Indiana, on January 23, 1846, and it is believed his wife Rebecca died in North Carolina before 1828.

In 1855, Henry and Polly moved to Henry County, Iowa, where Polly died on October 19, 1855, and Henry died on August 3, 1863. Henry and Polly were the parents of:

(1) Ann Millis, born June 28, 1817, she married Henry O. Way; (2) Jerusha R., born October 10, 1819, she married Thomas W. Gossett; (3) Fanny L., born August 9, 1822, she married Peter White; (4) Alson Gray, born April 8, 1824, he married first Hannah Rees, then Mary M. Hockett; (5) Eli Branson, born January 17, 1826, he married Nancy VanArsdale; (6) Matilda, born January 5, 1828, she married John M. Crosbie; (7) Abigail Irwin, born February 26, 1830, she married George Elliott; (8) Lotan Smith born April 17, 1832, he married first Phebe Hixon, then Emily Bunch; (9) Heber Ellis born May 3, 1834, he married Keziah Hixon; (10) Elzena Davis, born April 28, 1838, she married Jeremiah Cox; and (11) Curtis Otwell, born November 19, 1840, he married Jane D.
