Henry Elmer Gable

Henry E. Gable, age 87, of Orrville, died Sunday, April 8, 2012, at Summa Wadsworth-Rittman Hospital, following a period of declining health. Henry was born on October 24, 1924, in Lattasburg, Ohio, to the late William I. and Amelia (Horst) Gable and married Donna A. Brenner on February 10, 1951, in Greenup, KY. Donna survives. He graduated from Dalton High School, class of 1943 and worked as a cabinet maker for the Schantz Organ Company in Orrville for 43 years, retiring in 1990. Henry was a member of the Grace Brethren Church and a former member of the Wayne County Beekeepers Club. He enjoyed beekeeping, woodworking, gardening and fishing. Surviving in addition to his wife, Donna, are a son, Elmer (Joan) Gable of Orrville; a daughter, Cheryl (Earl) Knote of Wooster; 5 grandchildren, David Gable of GA, Robert (Beverly) Gable of Rittman, Jarrod (Heather) Gable of KS, Angela (Carl) Steiner of Smithville, and Rachel (Shaun) Rufener of Rittman; 11 great grandchildren, Sydney, Katelyn, Maddison, Mikayla, Lacey, Kameron, Lincoln, Gideon, Ariela, Hayden, and Parker; a brother, Chester Gable of Orrville; a sister, Mary Shank of East Berlin, PA; and a brother-in-law, David Amstutz of Dalton. He was preceded in death by a brother and sister-in-law, Ivan (Lottie) Gable; 2 sisters, Emma Amstutz, and Vida Gable; a brother-in-law, Mark Shank; and a sister-in-law, Lorene Gable. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, April 14, 2012, at Rittman Grace Brethren Church, with Rev. Bud Olszewski officiating. A private burial will take place at Martins Mennonite Cemetery in Orrville prior to the service. Friends may call on Friday at Auble Funeral Home in Orrville from 6 to 8 pm.
