About Henry Hageman
Henry Hagemann was the first of five children born of the second marriage of his father, Joseph, and Louisa Winkelmann Hagemann. After Joseph's first wife died, he remarried and had the five subsequent children in Peoria, IL (HENRY, Joseph, Christian, Anna Mary, and Mary Louisa Hagemann). Henry was baptized at the church of St. Joseph's in Peoria, IL. About 1883 the Joseph and Louisa Hagemann family moved west to Uniontown where they remained the rest of their lives. At age 24, Henry married Maria (Mary Josephine) Heitstuman on 22 Nov. 1887 in Uniontown, WA at St. Boniface Catholic church. She was the daughter of Bernard and Josephine (Wendker) Heitstumann. Henry was a petitioner in Jan. of 1891 to incorporate the city of Uniontown, WA. He worked for the railroad at times in Uniontown WA besides farming at the original Goldsmith place, later buying property owned by George Fuchs. After retiring from farming, he and Maria moved to central Uniontown where he became the town marshal for a number of years. Although they had no children of their own, Anna (Kramer) Heitstuman (1894-1984) came to live with Henry and his wife. The 1900 census records show her as adopted. Anna later married Ferdinand Niggemann in 1932 in San Jose, CA. Henry Hagemann died at age 57 in Lewiston, ID after a few hours of sudden illness. He is buried in the Catholic cemetery of St. Boniface in Uniontown, WA. A prominent marker stands where he is buried. His wife, however, is not buried with him. After his death in 1919, she moved with her daughter, Anna, to Santa Clara CA . She lived an additional 42 years after Henry's death and died at age 92 on 19 March, 1962 in Santa Clara, CA where she is buried (Santa Clara Catholic Cemetery)
