Henry Holder

Henry Holder is believed to be the son of George Ludwig Holder (1773-1816) and Elizabeth Morris (???-1814) (who died in Georgia). It is believed that George and Elizabeth married in North Carolina, moved to Ohio for a period and then moved to Georgia where Elizabeth died. After that George returned to North Carolina.

Henry married Anna Elizabeth Butner (1804-1887) on 12 Jul 1830 at Stokes (now Forsyth) County, North Carolina. Henry and Anna were the parents of eight known children, namely:

1. Mariah E. Holder Barmes (1831-p1860) 2. Louisa Henrietta Holder Sowers (1833-1922) 3. Henry Augustus Holder (1835-1854) 4. Amanda Ellen Holder Gambold (1837-1919) 5. Nancy Jane Holder Shore (1839-1923) 6. George William Holder (1841-???) (died 1864 in Civil War?) 7. Mary Caroline Holder Snider (1844-1900) 8. Charlotte C. Holder Redman (1848-1905)

Some records list the family with ten children. Henry was a gunsmith. The first five of their eight known children were born in Bartholomew County, Indiana. In about 1840 the family moved to Missouri where the next two of their children were born, and then they returned to Indiana in the late 1840s where the last of their eight children was born.
