About Henry Hume
Henry Hume was the son of James and Janet Hume (nee Armstong). He was a baker in Robertson's Close off of Market Place in Selkirk (next to Hume's Close).
He married Jeannie Linton. Jeannie and their children (James, Jane, Helen (Ellen), Anne, Margaret and William Hume) arrived in New Zealand in 1858 on board the Kingston'. Henry's younger brother Walter (c.1817-1885) emigrated to New Zealand a few years later on board the Pegasus, arriving in Auckland on 28 March 1865 and in 1909 took up land at Katikati in the Bay of Plenty.
