Henry Wilkerson Hundley

Henry Wilkerson Hundley (b Feb 5, 1815 Halifax County, VA d May 18, 1877 Franklin County, MO) was the son of Charles Hundley (1768-1845) and either Ann Elizabeth Estes as most Hundley family tress say or Martha Estes as the death certificate of his brother Elisha Estes Hundley in Charlotte, VA says. His first marriage on Dec 14, 1837 in Caswell County, NC was to Elizabeth "Elza" L. Hooper (b Nov 1, 1819 in Caswell County, NC d Nov 1855 in Franklin County, MO) Zachariah L. Hooper bondsman (North Carolina Marriage Bonds, 1741-1868, record # 01 147; Ancestry.com on-line database). ). Their children included: (1) Benjamin F. (b Feb 21, 1839 in VA, d Mar 4,1869) (2) Martha B. (b May 14,1843 in MO, d Oct 1844); (3) Susan J. (b May 3, 1843 in MO, d Oct 30, 1906) who married Thomas Baker North; (4) Elvira (b Jan 30, 1848 in MO, d Jul 24,1929) married Edward Murray; (5) Annie (b 1842, d?? ) married Edward May; (6) Sarah (b 1850 in MO, d ca 1896) 1st married James May, 2nd married Isiah William. Henry Wilkerson Hundley is listed in the 1840 United States Census in North District, Halifax, VA on the same page as his father, Charles Hundley, with two free white persons age 20-29 and one free white person under age 20 in the household (Roll 560, p 16, image 36). Bryan. Henry Wilkerson Hundley is listed at age 46 in the 1860 United States Federal Census as a farmer in Central, Franklin, MO with his wife Hagar age 26 (Roll M653_619, p 403, image 409). He is again listed in a 1876 Missouri State Census in Franklin County, Township 43. Sue Lampe of Four Rivers Genealogy in Franklin County, MO sent me an e-mail on Jul 26, 2013 which stated:

"The Hundley cemetery was destroyed some time ago.  Luckily, a man named Ralph Cordell kept a record of the tombstones.  Henry W. Hundley, who died May 18, 1877, was buried in the Hundley Cemetery.  The location of what was the cemetery is near the intersection of Highway 50 and Interstate 44 about 1/8 of a mile west from the bridge across the Bourbouse River in Franklin County, Missouri.  The nearest town would be the county seat, Union."
