APACHE Henry Leon Parker 87, of Apache, went to his heavenly home on Tuesday, Jan. 9, 2018, in Lawton.
Graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 13, 2018, at Cache Creek KCA Cemetery in Apache with Kerry Glasgow officiating.
Henry was born March 29, 1930, in Elgin, to Thomas Titah and Helen (Fisher) Parker. He graduated from Chilocco.
Henry Leon Parker was drafted into the Army on March 5, 1951, and served with honor, until Feb. 25, 1953, earning the rank of private. He completed his Basic Training at Fort Lewis, Wash., and was assigned to Company A, 5th Engineer Battalion as a combat engineer. He and his unit were reassigned to Germany, where he served for one year and two months and 21 days. He was discharged at Camp Chaffee, Ark., while assigned to the 5th Armored Division.
Pvt. Parker was awarded the National Defense Service and Army of Occupation with/Germany Clasp medals.
Henry met the love of his life, Doris Arnold in Amarillo, Texas, and they have been married 61 years. He was a member of the Comanche Nation of Oklahoma.
He is survived by: his wife, Doris Parker of the home; son and daughter-in-law, Darrell and Tammy Parker of Apache; grandchildren: Brandi Hunt, Eric Parker and Kasey, and Cody and Jillian Allison; great-grandchildren: Gabriel Hunt, Teagan Jackson, Jaxten Parker, and Levi and Karli Allison; and several nieces, nephews, other family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his: parents; a son, Marshall Parker; three brothers and two sisters.
