Obituary- "Hudson Rose, aged 85 years, well known farmer of near Kirby, died at his home Friday morning, May 3, 1940, at 10 o'clock, following an illness since November.
The deceased was born March 27, 1855, in the Kirby community, a son of Eli and Elizabeth Kiger Rose, and was the husband of Mrs. Cassie Lemley Rose, whom he married July 2, 1883.
Surviving besides the wife are the following children: Viona Rose, a teacher in the Butler schools; Gernie Rose, of Kirby; Mrs. Thomas (Verda) Corwin, of Waynesburg, and Mrs. Stanford (Ida) Mooney, of Kirby. Two other children are deceased, one having died in infacny and the other at the age of three years. Sixteen grandchildren and two great-grandchildren also survive. Two brothers, Dr. Eli W. Rose, of Hundred, W. Va., and Napoleon B. Rose, of Waynesburg, also survive."
