Son of James and Frances Louise 'Mansur' Tinsley. He attended rural Ray County schools and 2 Bible schools. On Spetember 15, 1890 he married Alice Augusta Penny in Ray County. Their children were: James H., Lula C Cathey, Jessie Ermine Kilh, and Mrs William Reineking. He was a building contractor in Ray County and served as a Christian Church pastor from 1900 to 1913. In 1913 they moved to Chillicothe where he was associated with harry W Miller in the construction business. They built homes, apartments and commercial buildings, including Chillicothe State Bank. He was a member of the First Christian Church. He was blessed with 7 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
