About Hezekiah Beckwith

GEDCOM Note

• Family: Ancestors from The Beckwiths by Paul Beckwith. Beckwith Notes series by A.C. & E.S. Beckwith indicates that this family line may be very questionable. Review of information in the Notes series is continuing (May 2012). Internet postings by Mahlon Erickson and others indicate there may be errors in Paul Beckwith's book, particularly in relation to New York Beckwiths.

It is faily certain that this Elisha Beckwith was the father of Dr. Nathan Beckwith. See Nathan's page for details.
• Enlisted in Revolutionary Army, Jun 1776, Lyme, Connecticut. ELISHA BECKWITH was born in Lyme, Conn., in 1718, and died in White Plains, N. Y., October 28, 1776. He was a Private Soldier in the 6th Battalion of Gen. Wadsworth's Connecticut State Brigade, commanded by Col. Chester, in which he enlisted in June, 1776. He participated in the Battles of Long Island and White Plains.

• Death: Known Military Dead During the American Revolutionary War, 1775-1783 By Clarence Stewart Peterson, 1959, Baltimore, Maryland. Lists only two Beckwiths. Only Elisha is listed as killed. See Page 22.
