About Hiram Reuban McClung
Hiram was born ca 1805 in Georgia, (tombstone & 1860 census) the son of John and Elizabeth McClung. Hiram is first mentioned in Georgia Records in the Land Lotteries as an orphan along with Sewell and Drucilla. It is not known that they won in this lottery but they were listed as drawers. Probably Elizabeth knew that orphans were allowed a draw. From the 1820 census of Georgia, it appears that Hiram remained in the home with Elizabeth and was enumerated with John Jr. the head of household in Hall County. Hall had a strip of land that was cut from Jackson County when it was formed. By 1830 Hiram is listed as a head of house in Henry County.
