Horst Adolf Heckerodt (1944 - 2006)

Brief overview:

Horst (71), was shot dead in his home on the family smallholding in DeRust, Hartbeespoort, by men posing as buyers for his VW van, on 15th January 2006. His wife Evelyn and two sons were locked in the bathroom when they heard the gunshot.

The so-called buyers had come to view the car the day before and told Horst that they would be back the following morning with the money. When they arrived the men took out weapons and locked Eveline and the two sons into the bathroom. They then took Horst to the main bedroom and ordered him to open the safe, after which they shot him in the chest.

The family managed to free themselves by breaking open the bathroom door.
