2 December 1591: Extract letters of horning at the instance of Mr Thomas Gilbert, advocate, against Hugh, Lord Somerwell, and Walter, Master of Somerwell, in terms of a contract dated 3 Oct. 1590 by which the said Hugh and Walter bound themselves to infeft the said Mr Thomas, under reversion, in the £8 lands of Muirhall and Garwodend in the barony of Carnewath and to pay a yearly maill until the expiry of the reserved liferent of Dame Agnes Hammiltoun, Lady Somerwell. He married Eleanor Seton, daughter of George Seton, 4th Lord Seton and Elizabeth Hay, on 11 January 1558; They had six additional sons (only one of whom reached maturity) and two other children who also predeased their father.2 Hugh Somerville, 6th Lord Somerville and Eleanor Seton were divorced in 1587.2 Hugh Somerville, 6th Lord Somerville died on 24 March 1597 at Raploch, Scotland (house of Gavin Hamilton).
