Alexander Zerkowitz lived in Graz, Austria. He was a famous architect and his specific Jugendstil approach was influenced by the Vienna style of Wagner and Loos, and was regarded as unique in Austria. Today, buildings of this style are still standing in Graz, and some are occupied by Alexander’s descendants. At the time of his death, he was referred to as "Ingenieur, Stadtbaumeister". He was buried in Graz on 4 January 1927. According to his obituary, he was survived by his wife, Jenny, and by his children, Ing. Oskar Zerkowitz, Bruno Zerkowitz, Dr. Fritz Zerkowitz, Bertha Zerkowitz, Elsa Zerkowitz, and Silvia Flecker.
