About Ingebor Simonsdatter Skouge

Fra Seth L. Warner: The ancestry of Agnes (Brustad) Warner: https://familysearch.org/ENG/Library/fhlcatalog/supermainframeset.a...

Oluf Pederson, son of (144) Peder and (145) Guttorm Olufsdatter, was born in 1666 on Langoune, one of the two parishes in Mosvig (then, Ytteroy was the only other parish). The 1666 census of Mosvig shows Oluf, aged l/4, living there with his parents, Peder and Guttorm Olufsdatter Oluf Pederson and Ane Olsdatter were betrothed on Quinquagesima Sunday 1693 and married on the Feast of the Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary (July 2) of that year. They settled on Langoune, where six children were born: i. Peder, baptized Quasimodogen Sunday (the Sunday after Easter) 1694. ii. Siur, baptized the 3rd Sunday after Epiphany 1696. iii. Dorothe, baptized the 25th Sunday after Trinity 1697. iv. Oluf, baptized the Thursday after Misericordias Domini Sunday (the 2nd Sunday after Easter) 1700. v. Hermand, baptized Sexagesima Sunday 1702. vi. Marit, baptized the 1st Sunday after Epiphany 1706. Between 1706 and 1708 Oluf and Anne relocated on Skouge in the parish of Ytteroy, where two children were born: vii. Ranni, baptized the 16th Sunday after Trinity 1708. viii. Siri, baptized at home on 6 July 1712. The 1701 census of Mosvig (which listed only males over the age of one) shows Oluf, aged 38, and his sons Peder, aged 7, Syfuer, aged 5, and Ole, aged 1 lA, living on Langoune (spelled Langoyne). The burial record of Anne Olufsdatter Skouge (then spelled Skov) states that she, aged 53, was buried on Quinquagesima Sunday 1719 (hence born about 1666), and that she had been married to Oluf Pederson Skov for 26 years (hence married about 1693). This record supports the identification of Oluf Pederson Langoune of Mosvig with Oluf Pederson Skoug of Ytteroy, and the identification is definitely established below. Oluf Pederson Skov, medhjelper (pastor's assistant) was betrothed on Reminiscere Sunday (the 2nd Sunday in Lent) to (73) Ingebor Simonsdatter. They were married on Quasimodogen Sunday (the 1st Sunday after Easter) that year. Ingebor, daughter of (146) Simon Johanson Stangerholt and (147) Justina Jacobsdatter, was baptized on Exaudi Sunday (the Sunday after Ascension) 1694. Oluf and Ingebor had three children, all born on Skouge: i. Justina Olufsdatter, baptized the 11 Sunday after Trinity 1722. 36 ii. Simon Olufson, baptized 5 April 1724. th iii. Anne Olufsdatter, baptized the 9 Sunday after Trinity 1728. Their oldest child, Justina, gave birth to a child, Barbra, out of wedlock. Barbra was baptized the second day of Christmas (December 26) 1741. Barbara's father was Joen Christopherson Vseraas, identified in the record as the husband of Justina's half-sister Marit (72, vi). This identification of Barbra and Marit as half-sisters establishes the identity of Ole Pederson Langoune and Ole Pederson Skouge. In the eyes of the church, and therefore the state, Barbra was the result of incest, a grevious offence, even though her parents were not related by blood. Letters reporting the juridical dispositions of the cases against Joen and Justina, written on 22 January 1742 and 3 August 1742, were entered into the parish record. Both Joen and Justina were spared the death penalty but were required to submit to the church's discipline by openly confessing their sin and receiving public absolution therefrom and by serving three months at hard labor at the jails in Trondheim. Joen's public confession and absolution occurred on 2 March 1742, and Justina's on 16 September 1742. Ingebor m. OlufPederson m. Anne Olufsdatter Simonsdatter Skov Justina unm. JoenVaerass m. Marit i i Barbro, whose mother and father's wife were half sisters. Oluf Pederson Skov, medhjelper, was buried on 15 December 1728. The parish register adds that he was married to Anne Olufsdatter 30 years (clearly an exaggeration, in view of her burial record) and to Ingebor Simonsdatter 8 years, and that he was in his 66th year (ages of old people were normally inflated in records of this period). On the 20th Sunday after Trinity 1731 Ingebor was betrothed to Lars Nielson, then a bachelor and a soldier. They were married on the 27 Sunday after Trinity of that year, and Lars took over Skouge. Lars and Ingebor had one child: i. Joen Larson Skouge, baptized 19 December 1735. The estate of Lars Nielsen Skouge was divided 26 July 1763. His heirs were his widow, Ingebor Simonsdatter Stangerholt, and their son Joen Larsen. Ingebor and her son Oluf both died on 2 April 1765. Oluf had been living on the tenant farm Vaksdal on Eid, the farm on which the pastor lived. Ingebor's estate was divided 24 April 1765; her heirs were her four other children and Oluf s widow. Oluf s heirs were his widow Ingebor Pedersdatter and their 10-week old daughter, Justina Olsdatter
