About Ingeborg Abjörnsdotter, Sparre of Tofta

Ingeborg Abjörnsdotter, Sparre of Tofta

  • Illegitimate daughter of Abjörn Sixtensson (Sparre av Tofta) and Unknown

Sparre of Tofta, by Adelsvapen Geneologies

Abjörn Sixtensson (son of Sixten, tab. 1). Appears in the records from 1295, probably already a knight, certainly in 1296. Was councilor in 1297. Mentioned as duke Eriks drots from 1302 and from 1307 also as duke Valdemars. Between 17.5 1304 and 8.1 1307, he disappeared from the Swedish diploma material due to exile and confiscation of goods. Died 1310. Owned Salsta in Lena sn in Norunda hd in Uppland and Ängsö in the same name sn in Yttertjurbo hd in Västmanland. Was married in 1296 to Ingeborg Ulfsdotter, daughter of the knight Ulf Karlsson ( Ulv) and widow of the knight Knut Matsson, who was apparently a lawman in Närke as early as 1282, is mentioned as a councilor in 1288 and died in 1289. Mrs. Ingeborg, who owned estates in Kinds, Kåkinds, Vadsbo and Vartofta hd in Västergötland and in Karlstads and ölme hd in Värmland , died in 1307. In addition to the sons listed below, Mr. Abjörn had a daughter Ingeborg, who was probably born in an illegitimate relationship, which Mr. Abjörn entered into before his marriage to Mrs. Ingeborg. He gave this illegitimate daughter the same year he died, 1310, a substantial gift with the consent of his mother and his sister Kristina, all in accordance with what was stipulated in the Östgöta law's inheritance code regarding gifts to frill children. If Ingeborg had been born in real bed, it is inconceivable that neither she nor her husband, as the relationship was with the brothers' other half-sister Birgitta, at some point found as a confirmer of the Abjörnssons' many business transactions. As an illegitimate child, Ingeborg, on the other hand, did not belong to the family, even though she was recognized. She was certainly still alive in 1343, possibly as late as 1351. Was at least from 1310 married to Master Herman in Kavlebäck in Västra Ny sn in Aska hd in Östergötland, who was still alive in 1320. Ingeborg owned estates in Åsunda hd in Uppland as well as in Aska, Dals and Göstrings HD in Östergötland.

Sons

  • Nils Abjörnsson, (son of Abjörn Sixtensson, tab. 2). Appears in the records from 1317. Mentioned as a councilor from 1320. Knighted sometime between 1322 and 1325, possibly at the Täljemötet in June 1322. Was drots in 1335 and 1336 and lawman in Västmanland and Dalarna in 1352 and again in 1358. Died in 1359. Owned Salsta and Ängsö. Was married to Bengta Abrahamsdotter, who lived as a widow in 1359. 1317, died 1359, knight, councillor, lawman, drots.
  • Ulf Abjörnsson, 1317, died 1347 or 1348, knight, councillor, lawman. (son of Abjörn Sixtensson, tab. 2). Appears in the records from 1317. Was knighted sometime between 1322 and 1325, possibly at the Tälje meeting in June 1322. Mentioned as a councilor from 1320 and as a lawman in Tiohärad in 1347. Died in 1347 or 1348. Two of Saint Birgitta's revelations are about him. Married the first time no later than 1317 to Kristina, who was still alive in 1326 but was probably dead in 1330, daughter of the Riksdag Sigmund Keldorsson and his wife Cecilia, and the second time no later than 1337 to Märta, who was still alive in 1362 but died in 1381 and lived at Fågelvik in Tryserums born in Norra Tjusts hd in Småland, daughter of the ten-county knight Sune Jonsson ( Bååt ) and Katarina Glysingsdotter ( Glysing ).
