Ingrid Niebuhr (1940 - 2012)

Brief overview:

Ingrid (71), a former owner of the guest house, Haus Bergfrieden, was found murdered in her home on a farm near Wakkerstroom. Her body was found in a pool of blood, on 13th February 2012. She was found by her gardener around 8am when he arrived for work. The garage and kitchen door was broken into. A neighbour went to investigate and found Niebuhr's body in the master bedroom. She had several stab wounds to her face, neck and back, and her throat was slit.

Provincial police spokesman Leonard Hlathi said she was last seen alive about 2pm on Thursday. There was no sign of a murder weapon and no one has been arrested so far in connection with the murder. Niebuhr's maroon Volkswagen Polo was later found in the vicinity of Volksrust, Hlathi said. It appears nothing else was stolen.
