The funeral for Ingvold Swenson, 78, of rural Leeds was held Mon. at 2 p.m. at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Harlow. Interment was in the church cemetery. He died July 23, 1998 near Leeds. Stanley Hockett officiated. Eileen Westrum provided music. Pallbearers were Bruce Smeltzer, Gilman Gunderson, Rio Himle, Bernard Meyer, Sanfrid Anderson & Mark Lysne. The Robert Tovsrud VFW Post 757 of Harlow accorded military honors. The Nelson Funeral Home of Leeds was in charge of arrangements. Ingvold Swenson was born July 7, 1920 in Butte Valley Township of Benson County near Harlow to Elling & Liv Larson Swenson. He was raised there & educated at the Washington School in Butte Valley Township & at the Harlow School. He worked for area farmers until entering the Army Nov. 6, 1942. After his discharge Feb. 4, 1946 he returned to the Harlow area. He married Lois Sandberg June 13, 1946 in Devils Lake. They lived near Harlow until moving to Devils Lake in 1947, where he worked as a mechanic at Dakota Implement & then as a mechanic for 22 1/2 years at Lake Motor Service. He later worked for Devils Lake Truck Equipment. They moved to the Leeds area in 1977. He then worked for Larson Implement in Leeds & Trudell Oil in Cando until his retirement. He was a member of the Robert Tovsrud VFW Post 757 of Harlow. Survivors include his wife, Lois; 2 sons, Laurice & Terry, both of Devils Lake; 2 daughters, Laura & Garry Halle of Devils Lake & Sheri & Paul Solberg of Lakota; 7 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; a brother, Lars Swenson of Devils Lake; & 3 sisters, Signe Ness of Devils Lake, Jorgine Leholm of Tioga & Ella Diesen of Kalispell, Mont. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, James, in 1992; a brother, Swen; & 3 sisters, Lillie Aabrekke, Olga Munson & Sophie Swenson.
