Ira S. Orner, 87, died at his home, North High Street. Arendtsville, this morning at 6"15 o'clock. He had been ill for the past 6 years with asthma, but had been in his usual health Friday evening having received a regular treatment for his condition by his physician. He had an asthmatic attack about 5am & died at 6:15 o'clock. He was the last of his family. He was born in Franklin Township, Adams County, a son of the late Jonas & Amelia (Grammer) Orner. He attended Franklin Township schools & Shippensburg State Teachers' College & taught in the Adams County schools for several years. he was also in the butcher business with his brother, the late Edward Orner, for a number of years before becoming a clerk in an Arendtsville store. he retired about 6 years ago. Funeral on Tuesday He was a member of the Zion Evangelical & Reformed Church of Arendtsville, the Arendtsville Fire Company, & the Fairview Cemetery Association, of which he was treasurer at the time of his death. Survivors are his wife, the former Dora Hershey, to whom he was married 50 years last 13th March, & 1 son, Paul I. Orner, of Arendtsville. Funeral services from the Bender Funeral Home Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock with his pastor, Rev. Nevin Frantz, officiating. Interment in Fairview Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Bender Funeral Home Monday evening between 7-9 o'clock. Gettysburg Times
