About Irene Gassoway
Irene was born January 30, 1886. She attended Sam Houston Normal Institute in Huntsville, Texas, graduating in 1914. Irene taught school for several years. During this time she met David Bruce Gassoway. They married June 5, 1918, and the couple moved to a farm north of Edna, Jackson County, Texas where he farmed and she continued to teach school.
