About Iris du Preez
Iris du Preez (1932 - 2002)
Brief overview:
Iris (70), was found dead by her husband Jaap du Preez (73), a retired police brigadier and former chief of detectives of the then Western Transvaal, in a bedroom on their Wilgeboom smallholding outside Potchefstroom around 14h00 on Friday afternoon, North West police said.
du Preez was ambushed and shot on their property in the Wilgeboom area outside Potchefstroom while she was home alone. Inspector Daniel Chaka said Iris was apparently shot once and the bullet had passed through her arm into her chest.
Four employees were at the house, and left for lunch at 13h00. Chaka said a shotgun, which might have been the murder weapon, was missing from the house. Police believe the attacker gained entry through an open door.
