About Irving Broaddus
Irving Broaddus was one of eleven children of Lunsford & Nancy (Gayle) Broaddus. His father was a Captain in the war of 1812 and settled in Marshall County in August of 1835.
Irving married Ruth Forbes on 18 Nov 1863 in Lacon. She was the daughter of Peter & Sarah (Buckingham) Forbes.
The couple had 5 children: Savella, Cora, Lily, Walter & Nancy.
Irving worked as an auctioneer and farmer.
When Irving & Ruth were married they moved onto the old Broaddus homestead where they stayed until 1894 when Irving retired from farming. They moved into Lacon and then for the last 8 year of his life Irving lived in suburban Chicago to be with family.
