About Isaac A. Bilyeu, Sr.

Peter Bilyeu Jr (1731-1811) is Isaacs dad.
The FaG memorial appears to be in error.

Bilyeu, Billiou, Belyou, Ballou, Birlew

Isaac and brothers John and William volunteered from Overton Co., Tenn in Bradley's 1st Regt of Tenn. in the campaign against the Creek Indians (the WAR OF 1812). Wm is listed as being a private in Captain John Kennedy's Company of the 1st Regiment Western Tenn Militia Volunteers serving between Oct 1813-Dec 1813. The three brothers along with another brother Andrew Bilyue, all came to Sangamon Co., Illinois for awhile then all moved to Miller Co., Missouri about 1830. At this time, Miller Co., was not organized, and the area where they settled was in Crawford Co.

Isaac can be found in the census:

  • 1820 Overton Co., Tenn, page 9.
  • 1830 Sangamon Co., Illinois, page 143.
  • 1840 Miller Co., Missouri, Glaze Twp., No. 197/197
  • 1850 Taney Co., Missouri, James Twp., No. 197/197 (Stone Co., MO was organized in 1851, James Twp was included in Stone Co. after it's organization.) Also Mary Ann is found here.

Indications are that Isaac and family left Tenn about 1824. Their youngest child, Stephen shows a birth place of KY, in 1825 (probably in transit). In 1829 they were found in Sangamon Co., Ill. Soon afer they moved to Miller Co., MO. By 1838 they were in Carroll Co., Ark. In 1840 they moved to Miller Co., MO again. He died in Carroll Co., Arkansas. It is not known if the family owned land there or they were just squatters. The land records in Carroll C., Ar burned.
