Biography

Isaac Sampson was born in 1737 in Plympton, Plymouth, MA. His parents were Isaac Sampson and Elizabeth Richmond.

Isaac married Mercy Samson on November 10, 1763, in Middleborough, Plymouth County, Massachusetts, United States. Together they had the following children:

He died on October 11, 1813, in Northern Cape, South Africa.


Unsourced information suggests he may have died in Africa.

Biography

Isaac, son of Isaac and Elizabeth (Hodges) (Shaw) Sampson, was born at Plympton, MA ca. 1737. He married Mercy Caswell, daughter of Seth and Isabel (Cohoon) Caswell, on November 10, 1763 at Middleborough, MA.

Isaac bought property in Easton, MA and removed there. Within a year Isaac and Mercy with two of their children were warned out. Isaac sold the Easton property and bought property in Shutesbury, MA in 1769.

By 1790 they had removed to Pownal, Bennington, VT. By the beginning of 1806 they had moved to Williamstown, MA and sold their property in Pownal.

On October 11, 1813 his son Isaac was called Jr. meaning his father was probably still living at that time. No further records.

He was named in his father's will. The will of Isaac Sampson of Middleborough, yeoman, was written 23 February 1748 and proved 7 May 1750. He named his son Isaac, among his other children.[1]
