Onezime and Marie gave birth to 17 children, consisting of of 8 boys and 9 girls. Only three of these children pre-deceased their parents. "The information on this family was compiled by Mr. Louis Wilson ( a descendant of Ernst) from the original records of Immaculate Conception Church, located on the Attakapsa Canal Road." (Quoted from page 46 of "A Breaux Family History" by Gerald P. Breaux.) It is thought that both Onezime and Marie died sometime between 1880 & 1886, (leaving 14 living children), because they are listed on the 1880 census and other family information reveals they both died before their son, Onezime, Jr., who died in 1886.
