History of Israel Birgersson (Finstaätten), The Swedish Biographical Dictionary

Israel Birgersson (Finstaätten), Lagman, Riksråd, by Earl Gallén

4 Israel Birgersson, son of F 2 in his 2nd married, f earliest 1312 o latest Sept 1314, d before May 10, 1351 in Riga. At the time of the change of inheritance after the father on March 25, 1328, the lawyer in Uppland was already on August 22, 1334, when he was also mentioned among the guarantors of the ransom of Skåne and paid 450 marks of frivolous silver for his share, knight between March 29, 1341 and November 18, 1343, was the national council at least Dec. 6, 1344, when, together with the archbishop and two other national councils, he was appointed to bring the government during the king's journey to Norway, the king's highest official (officialis generalis) was June 4, 1348, at the time of his departure on war train to Gothenburg, King Magnus accompanied it the second train to Ingermanland 1350.

Was July 16, 1349 gm Benedikta Karlsdtr, apparently dtr by Riksrådet Karl Orestesson (Färla, Orestes Keldorsson's family). His widow is called December 5, 1352 Birgitta.

IB's burden explains that at the age of 22 he became a lawyer in Uppland. The closest known holder of the office was the 1327 deceased father. The knight's battle, however, has to wait for IB. He has engaged with other Swedish chiefs in the acquisition of Skåne by posing personally as a guarantor. When he entered the national council, it is not really clear if one does not assume that he, as the lawyer, owned the seat and sue there. Obviously, he has belonged to King Magnus Eriksson's closest confidence representatives, since he has been entrusted with government assignments during the King's absence. In Saint Birgitta's revelations, he is praised for his piety and humility; Only during the sister's pressure would he commit himself to the position of the king's officialis. His appointment to this office, however, has been compiled with the sister's attitude to the king and considered to indicate that "the royal makeshift expansion has been halted" (Sjöstedt). He himself would, according to the same source, only wish to go out on a crusade against the pagans, which desire was finally fulfilled. On this journey, he succumbed to illness - possibly the black plague - in Riga. The announcement about this reached Sweden before May 10, 1351.

IB, like his father, was one of Sweden's most powerful earth queens. After the mother he inherited three large freight complexes in Småland, gathered around Grönskog in Fliseryd, Fluxerum in Karlstorp and Döderhult. After his father, he owned several properties in Uppland, primarily Finsta in Skederid, as well as in Östergötland and in Möre. He crowned Lands-berga King's Garden in Lagunda hd in Uppland

Finsta Dynasty

Finstaätten, a conventional family name on one of the Swedish older medieval noble high-relatives, formed after the farm Finsta in Skederid's sn, Seven hundred hd in Uppland. This farm was not an original pedigree of the family, but had been acquired by one of its most famous members the lawyer and knight Birger Petersson , the father of Saint Birgitta . Genealogy of the family in ASF 1. The

original weapon of F is unknown. Knight Erland Israelsson, lawyer Birger's uncle, brought a cross, his son knight Johan Ängel dy his grandfather's weapon, an angel, while lawman Birger took up his mother's weapon, two downward-facing wings. The prelates in F had varying seals without eating weapons.

In the testimony of Saint Birgitta's canonization process (Acta, p. 473), her father, lawyer Birger, is reported to have traveled to Santiago de Compostela and other sacred places and that her grandfather Peter Israelsson would have visited Jerusalem, and that even older generations on the fathers would have piled on the said sites.

Genealogically, one cannot go further back than to the layman's grandfather Israel, who was dead May 31, 1269, but who is otherwise unknown. A daughter of Israel was gm Anders And. Sons of them were the judge in Uppsala Andreas Andreae (And) and the lawyer in Tiundaland, the knight Israel Andersson (And).

Sons of the ancestor of Israel were the knight Peter Israelsson, Archbishop Jakob Israelsson (F 1) and the knight Erland Israelsson.

Peter Israelsson is called dominee 1269 and was dead June 29, 1280; about his pilgrimage see above. He was GM a daughter of Birger Skänkare, who should have brought two wings in the gun (Rosman). Sons to them were the national team captain, the national council and the knight Birger Petersson and Israel Petersson, who became a canon in Uppsala in 1295 and in 1299 succeeded his cousin Andreas Andreæ (And) as domprost there. Mr. Israel was dead 24 Nov 1302. His anniversary was celebrated in Uppsala Cathedral along with, among others, the cousin Karl Erlandsson's (see below) on Aug. 12, which was probably Israel's death day. Lagman Birger Petersson (d. 1327; F 2) was first gm Kristina Johansdotter ( Elofssönernas ätt), who lived July 6, but was dead July 11, 1293, childless. About her see bd 13, and AF Liljeholm in PHT 1952. In her second marriage with Ingeborg Bengtsdotter (Folkungaättens lagmansgren), Mr. Birger had seven children (Gardell, 1, no 159), four of whom apparently died early. The remaining were the Riksrådet, the lawyer in Uppland, the knight Israel Birgersson (F 4) and the daughters Katarina Birgersdotter and Birgitta Birgersdotter , the holy Birgitta (F 5), married to the brothers knight Magnus Gudmarsson and the national council, the lawyer of Närke, knight Ulf Gudmarsson (the lawyer of Närke, knight Ulf Gudmarsson (Ulvåsaätten). ).

Israel Birgersson, lagman Birger's son, had three children, of which Ramborg and Peter certainly, and Helena probably in Mr Israel's famous married. Of these, Ramborg Israelsdotter became 1) m Filip Nilsson (troll Sparre of Tofta) and 2) m knight, the national council and the lawyer Anund Jonsson (Lion's face) as well as Helena Israelsdotter with the knight, the national council, the marsh and the lawyer Karl Ulfsson (Sparre of Tofta).

Israel Birgersson's son Peter Israelsson dy is little known. He was present as King Håkan's followers at Edsviken in 1371 and was not a knight. Peter's estate had been withdrawn by King Albrecht; Peter was last named as alive November 23, 1379 and buried in Vadstena Monastery March 24, 1384 (diarrhea). With him, Birger Petersson assumed the line.

The father of Israel's third son, knight Erland Israelsson, is probably the dominus Erlendus, which is referred to as 1272 and 1276. He lived and is called Dominus 29 Dec 1279 but was dead 10 Dec 1288 and was buried in Sigtuna Mariakyrka, where his burial ground is preserved (Gardell); it shows the weapon: a cross between two wings. Mr. Erland was gm Katarina Johansdotter, daughter of knight Johan Ängel dÄ. You know four children in Mr Erland's and Catherine's married. The daughter Ragnhild Erlandsdotter was probably the wife of Ragnhild, who before 2 October 1283 sold her fathers nursery Finsta to her cousin Birger Petersson (F 2). She was 1) with the knight Johan Karlsson (Fånöätten), executed 1280, and 2) m the knight, the Riksrådet and the lawyer of Västmanland Magnus Gregersson (Folkungaätten's illegitimate branch).

Mr Erland's sons were: the bishop of VästeråsIsrael Erlandsson (F 3), knight Johan Ängel dy and the canoe Karl Erlandsson. The knight Johan Angel (John Angelus) dy, mentioned dominee 1286, occupied his grandfather's name and arms. Mr. Johan Ängel dy made his will on 12 Jan 1314 and chose camp town in St. Erik's chapel in Uppsala Cathedral and was dead on May 21, 1314. About his property etc. see ESF, 1, p. 38; he was married but childless. His brother Karl Erlandsson (d. 1296) was 1286 canoe in Uppsala. Mr. Karl was a school in Paris in 1287 and studied at the University of Bologna in each case 1292-95.

Erland Israelsson's line began with Bishop Israel Erlandsson (F 3) in Västerås in 1328 or 1329, while the whole family began with Peter Israelsson dy about SEK 1384.

_______________________________

Judging by sisters Birgitta's recorded revelations, the brother Israel was as enthusiastic crusader as she was a crusader preacher. Israel participated in Magnus Eriksson's second rally against the Russians in 1350 and died in Riga in the spring of 1351.

It is unlikely that Israel died in the deaths that this year raged in the Baltic States. His last deed was to be carried to Riga's cathedral and put a precious ring on a sculpture by Virgin Mary, the guardian of the crusader of the livelihood. Sources;
