Issie James Law

Jimmy "I.J." Law, Jr. I. J. as he was widely known, was born February 1, 1922, to Alberta and Jimmy Law, Sr., He was the third son they had together, but the only son they had together, who got old. Born in the Ebenezer Community of Coffeeville, he left there at a very young age, never to return for a long time. Like his older sisters, when they left in the mid 1920s to go to Choctaw County, none of them returned until the late 1930s, and their father, Jimmy Law, Sr., had gone blind and passed away. They never saw their father again after about 1926. Jimmy Sr., died in 1935, not knowing how his children were doing. Jimmy Law, Jr., finally met up with his three older sisters in Mobile, and they all lived near one another. I. J. married first Mittie Dell Tucker on May 20, 1944. He later moved to Boston, then finally to Norfolk, Virginia. He passed away, May 14, 1996, in Virginia, where he is also buried.
